Chocolate-Orange Sheet Cake

When chocolate and orange flavors combine, it's absolutely delectable!  Because you serve it warm, it's ready to eat in under an hour!

CAKE INGREDIENTS

- Buttermilk - Granulated sugar - Butter and eggs - Pure vanilla extract - All-purpose flour - Baking soda, baking powder, salt - Unsweet cocoa powder - Orange juice, orange zest - Orange extract

FROSTING INGREDIENTS

- Butter - Buttermilk - Orange extract - Powdered sugar - Unsweet cocoa powder

In a small sauce pan over low heat, combine the butter, cocoa, and water.  Stir with a whisk until the butter is melted.  Remove from heat.  Rinse whisk and dry it off.

Combine the buttermilk, eggs, baking soda, orange juice, orange extract, and orange zest. (You’ll want your large bowl for this.) Add the cocoa/butter mixture gradually afterward, stirring it together with your whisk.

In a small bowl, combine the sugar, flour, and salt. Add this to your buttermilk mixture.  Blend well.

Pour it into your cake pan and bake for 30 to 35 minutes. Use a wooden toothpick to poke the center of the cake - if it comes out clean, it’s done! Set the cake on a cooling rack and let’s make the frosting.

Make the frosting.  Pour the warm frosting on top of the warm cake.  Eat immediately!
