Triple Layer Chocolate Cake

The best chocolate cake is made from scratch with easy homemade buttercream chocolate frosting.  Rich and decadent 3 layers of chocolatey goodness!


- All-purpose flour - Butter - Sugar - Cocoa powder - Eggs - Vanilla extract - Powdered sugar

How to Make It

Blend the butter and sugar until creamy. Blend in the eggs and vanilla extract.


Whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.


Whisk the unsweetened cocoa powder and boiling water.


Add dry ingredients and hot cocoa water to the butter and sugar mixture, alternating between the two.


Evenly distribute the batter into 3 cake pans.


Bake and then let the layers completely cool.


Make the chocolate buttercream frosting.


Add the frosting to the cake layers!


Serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, a dollop of whipped cream, or fresh berries for an extra burst of flavor. Or just eat it!
