You've got to try this Cottage Cheese Ranch Dip! It tastes just like ranch dip, but way creamier and thicker for dipping those veggies, crackers, and chips. Seriously, once you try it, you'll be reaching for it again and again! And it's so easy to make. Just puree all the ingredients and serve!

I will admit it. I've never been a cottage cheese fan, but this dip has completely changed my mind about it! When it's spun around in a food processor, it takes on a completely different texture. It's unbelievably thick and creamy!

Prepared dip in a white square dish on a white platter with carrots sticks, celery sticks, broccoli florets, and cherry tomatoes.

    Why You'll Love This Dip

Creamy texture - You get that rich, thick ranch vibe with cottage cheese adding protein and a little bit of mayonnaise for added velvety smoothness.

Super easy and make-ahead friendly - Just blend everything together, and it stays great in the fridge, ready for whenever snack time hits! While you're throwing this dip together, go ahead and prepare another make ahead dip such as this Mississippi Caviar Dip!

Perfect for dipping with bold flavor - Thick enough for veggies, chips, or crackers, with all the tangy, herby ranch goodness we love. If you bold flavor is your thing, you have to try this Jalapeno Cheese Ball! You can serve it will the same crackers and veggies you serve with this Cottage Cheese Ranch Dip!

Nothing to cook! Eat immediately! - need I say more?

    Ingredient Notes

Ingredients measured out in individual containers.
    • Cottage cheese - you can use any brand and type you want. Small curd or large curd, it doesn't matter. This recipe was tested with full fat cottage cheese. Tip - the higher the fat content, the richer and creamier it will be!
    • Dry ranch seasoning mix - pick the "salad dressing and seasoning mix" and not the "dip" version. This recipe was tested with Hidden Valley brand, but I think any brand is fine.
    • Mayonnaise - use whatever mayo you have in your fridge.
    • Lemon juice - you'd be happily surprised at the nice zing it adds!
    • Garnishes - smoked paprika and sliced green onions add more flavor to the dip (and are the perfect garnishes!),

    Substitutions

Here are some ingredient swaps in case you need them.

    • Cottage cheese. Swap with ricotta cheese for a slightly sweeter, milder taste. Use low fat cottage cheese if desired.
    • Dry ranch seasoning mix. Replace with a homemade blend of garlic powder, onion powder, dried dill, parsley, and a pinch of salt and pepper.
    • Mayonnaise. You can use either sour cream or plain Greek yogurt for a lighter, protein-packed option.
    • Lemon juice. Swap with lime juice, or use white vinegar for a more subtle tang.

    Add-ins

    • Be adventurous and try an add-in. Stir in extras like shredded cheddar cheese or crispy bacon bits.

How to Make Cottage Cheese Ranch Dip

Just 2 easy steps needed for this dip!

Step 1. Put all the ingredients into your food processor and blend until smooth.

Ingredients blended inside a food processor.

Step 2. Transfer the dip to a pretty serving dish with your choice of assorted fresh vegetables (or chips).

    What to Serve With It

My Cottage Cheese Ranch Dip is thick! It can stand up to anything you dip in or spread on!

    • Raw vegetable options. Baby carrots, carrot sticks, or carrot chips, celery sticks, cherry tomatoes, broccoli florets, cucumber slices, sliced bell peppers.
    • Chips and cracker options. Pita chips, tortilla chips, pretzel chips, Ritz crackers, wheat crackers, crostini.

    Recipe Tips

    • If you don't have a food processor, you can use a regular blender or a submersion blender. It might take a little longer to get the cottage cheese to a whipped consistency, but these can be a good substitute.
    • If you have the time, let the dip sit in the fridge for at least an hour. This helps the flavors meld together and makes it taste even better!
    • Taste and adjust the seasoning. Start with a little ranch seasoning and add more as you go to get the perfect amount to suit you!

    Questions People Ask

How long will this dip last in the fridge?

Store the dip in the refrigerator for 2-4 days. Keep it in an airtight container for maximum storage length and freshness.

Can I make it ahead of time?

Absolutely! Make it the day before you plan to serve it. It'll probably be more flavorful, too!

What can I add to make it more flavorful?

It's nicely flavored as is, but a few splashes of hot sauce will kick it up a notch!

    Equipment

    • food processor (2nd choice is a blender)
    • measuring cup
    • measuring spoon

    Ingredients

    DIP

    • 16 oz cottage cheese I use full fat
    • ¼ cup mayonnaise I use full fat
    • 3 teaspoon dry ranch seasoning mix
    • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
    • sliced green onion, for garnish
    • paprika (regular or smoked) for garnish

    SERVING SUGGESTIONS

    • serve with your favorite veggies, such as: baby carrots, carrot sticks, or carrot chips, celery sticks, cherry tomatoes, broccoli florets, cucumber slices
    • serve with pita chips, tortilla chips, pretzel chips, Ritz crackers, wheat crackers, crostini.

    Instructions

    • Blend cottage cheese, mayonnaise, ranch seasoning, and lemon juice in a food processor until smooth and creamy. I don't recommend using a blender because the cottage cheese needs to be creamy and I'm not sure a blender can achieve this.
    • Spoon the dip into a serving bowl or dish and sprinkle with a little paprika and green onion. Serve now or cover and save for later.
    • Serve with your favorite veggies, such as: baby carrots, carrot sticks, or carrot chips, celery sticks, cherry tomatoes, broccoli florets, cucumber slices

    Notes

Blender Alternative. If you don't have a food processor, you can use a regular blender or a submersion blender. It might take a little longer to get the cottage cheese to a whipped consistency, but a blender can be used.
Let it rest.  If you have the time, let the dip sit in the fridge for at least an hour. This helps the flavors meld together and makes it taste even better!
Do a taste test. Taste and adjust the seasoning. Start with a little ranch seasoning and add more as you go to get the perfect amount to suit you!
Storage. Store the dip in the refrigerator for 2-4 days. Keep it in an airtight container for maximum storage length and freshness.
Make-ahead. Make it the day before you plan to serve it. It'll probably be more flavorful, too!
