Why You'll Love It
Simple. Easy. Versatile. Need I say more? Well, I will add one surprising fact about this Green Olive Dip. It's also fantastic as a spread on your hamburgers! Yes, if you've ever tasted a hamburger with olives, then you know exactly what I'm talking about. I wouldn't be opposed to spreading this dip on a turkey sandwich!
So as a kid, I remember my mom buying the pre-made olive pimiento spread (in the glass jar). Not very appealing to a kid! But now, as an adult, my oh my have my food likes changed. Instead of using pimento cheese, I think this olive and cream cheese blend is the best! It's definitely on my highly loved dip list!
Ingredients for Green Olive Dip
Green olives - be sure to get the olives that are stuffed with pimentos.
Cream cheese - use the full fat cream cheese for the best flavor and creamy texture; I don't recommend the fat free cream cheese for this recipe.
Olive brine - this is the juice in the jar with the olives.
Garlic powder - gives the dip just a hint of garlicky flavor.

I love how versatile this recipe is! Even though it is most delicious with the listed ingredients, here are some great substitutes in case you need them.

Additions and Variations
There are several add-ins you can try with this dip!
- Chopped dried beef (1-2 tablespoons)
- Chopped green onions (2-4 tablespoons)
- Chopped pecans (2-4 tablespoons)
- Worcestershire sauce (a couple of good shakes)
- Grated cheddar cheese (½ cup)
- Mayonnaise (½ cup)
How to Make It
Only two steps needed to make Green Olive Dip! I think it's my easiest recipe yet 🙂
Step 1. Mix the cream cheese, chopped olives, garlic powder, and 2 tablespoons of the liquid (brine) from the olive jar.
Step 2. Place the dip in a serving dish! Serve with crostini, pita chips, crackers, or veggie sticks. Serve immediately or keep in the fridge for later.
Recipe Tips
Be sure the cream cheese is softened so it'll be easier to blend. When set on the counter to soften, it can take about an hour. But if you're in a huge hurry, place the foil wrapped cream cheese in a bowl filled with warm water; it'll be softened in about 15 minutes.
I love how chunky this dip is! But if you want it smoother, go ahead and pulse it a few times in your food processor.
If you're sensitive to salt, simply rinse the olives before using them.
What to Serve with Green Olive Dip
You can serve green olive dip with just about anything you would serve any dip with. I love it with:
- Crostini
- Pita chips
- Ritz crackers
- Carrot, cucumber, and celery sticks
FAQs
Since this dip is mostly cream cheese, I don't recommend freezing it. When cream cheese thaws, the texture isn't as creamy.
Yes, you can make it the day before. Give it good stir before serving.
When buying pimento stuffed green olives, look for manzanilla, Spanish, or queen olives.
